Community College Adult High School Program (CCAHS)

DRAFT ARTICLE - NOT PUBLISHED

The following articles detail the coding of students leaving high school to attend a Community College Adult High School Program (CCAHS) pursuant to SBE policy DROP-000. The complete policy can be viewed here: https://stateboard.ncpublicschools.gov/ - DROP-000.

The policy indicates that students who leave high school to attend an approved North Carolina CCAHS program shall be coded with the W2T end status. This code indicates their intent to complete high school in the adult setting.

Documentation that students are enrolled in the CCAHS must be provided to the traditional school (home school). This documentation must be updated on an ongoing basis (quarter or semester, as determined by the PSU and CCAHS) to ensure that the student maintains continual enrollment in the CCAHS.

These students are reported as dropouts but will not be included in the dropout rate or count until they fail to maintain continuous enrollment in the CCAHS program. Students who complete the CCAHS shall be counted as graduates for the traditional school.

Additional instructions and policy can be found in the Dropout Data Collection and Report Procedures Manual and the Cohort Graduation Rate Manual.

IMPORTANT: Student has one year from withdrawal to establish enrollment in the CCAHS program. Only students who are verified in the CCAHS program receive the W2T end status. All other students receive the end status appropriate for their exit reason as defined in the SASA (Student Attendance and Student Accounting Manual).
